Rep. Abraham speaks on shutdown's effect on federal SNAP program
You may have heard the government shutdown could affect the SNAP program, but Louisiana Representative Doctor Ralph Abraham says that people who are receiving SNAP benefits don't need to worry -- at least for now.
Rep. Abraham says, "SNAP beneficiaries are going to receive their benefits. It's going to continue and there will be no disruption of the service. This is just another attempt from the Democrats to distort the facts, muddy the water, and move the dialogue in a different direction."
One fifth of Louisiana families draw SNAP food benefits.
States are set to give the 38 million SNAP families their February benefits on Sunday, January 20.
