Rep. Abraham: 'Home run' for Barksdale, Fort Polk
Barksdale's B-52s will get a modern makeover, Fort Polk will be protected from the base closure list and Belle Chasse's F-15 fighters will stand guard over the Gulf Coast in a bulked up defense spending bill nearing President Donald Trump's signature.
"This is a home run for Louisiana," said Congressman Ralph Abraham, R-Alto, the state's only member of the House Armed Services Committee.
The House approved a conference committee's version of the National Defense Authorization Act this week and the Senate is expected to quickly follow. Trump has said he will sign the bill.
