House votes cost-of-living-hike in VA disability benefits
WASHINGTON -- The House voted 409-0 Tuesday (July 28) to increase veterans' disability benefits based on the the cost-of-living adjustment awarded to Social Security recipients.
The increase would take effect December 1. Congress must vote to increase the benefits every year to give veterans an annual cost-of-living hike in disability benefits.
"I'm proud to have authored and passed this important piece of legislation," Abraham said. "A broad, bipartisan coalition supported my bill as Congress recognized the need to support our veterans. Our American heroes took care of us, and now we need to take care of them."
