House approves Abraham's first bill

WASHINGTON – The House voted overwhelmingly on Tuesday to pass a bill by Rep. Ralph Abraham that would provide cost-of-living increases in veterans’ benefits.
“Our American heroes took care of us and now we need to take care of them,” Abraham, R-Alto, said in a statement.
The bill is the first for the Louisiana Republican freshman. Abraham is chairman of the Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs.
The vote was 409-0, with 24 lawmakers not voting.
