Five Franklin Parish scouts receive Eagle rank
Five boys from the local Boy Scout Troop #53 received their Eagle Scout rank in a ceremony Sunday.
Joseph “Bruce” Cordill, Jesse Thomas, Jarrod Thomas Jr., Sam Broussard and Nico Broussard were presented their badges at Winnsboro First Baptist Church by Scout Master Karl Broussard.
Cordill, 17 from Winnsboro, is the son of Joey and Brandi Cordill. Brothers Jesse, 17, and Jarrod, 18 of Winnsboro, are the sons of Jarrod and Kitty Thomas. Brothers Sam, 17, and Nico, 15, are sons of Karl and Bethany Broussard of Lafayette.
Special guests for the ceremony were Winnsboro Mayor Sonny Dumas and Fifth District Congressman Ralph Abraham.
“Achieving the rank of Eagle Scout is no small feat,” Abraham said. “It takes hours of dedication and service to the community to reach such a prestigious level. This is a distinction that will serve these young men well throughout their lives, and I’m honored they invited me to participate in their special day.”
