Farm Bill vote a blow to U.S.
The 2014 Farm Bill negotiations were regarded as the most contentious in recent history before the bill finally became the law of the land.
Policies that should have been in place in 2012 took an extra two years to hammer out in Washington.
The Louisiana Caucus helped kill the amendment. Reps. Clay Higgins, Garret Graves, Steve Scalise, Cedric Richmond and Ralph Abraham went to bat for the life of the sugar cane industry as they worked hard to get the message out to their colleagues about the amendment’s threat to sugar producers everywhere.
Abraham, who is on the Ag Committee, said, “This was a good Farm Bill that implements work requirements for SNAP and provided the policies our farmers rely on for planning so that they can keep feeding this country. Those who voted “no” turned their backs on President (Donald) Trump and the American farmer. They need to get on board so we can pass this bill that is critical to the success of American agriculture.”
