Ag’s weekend to shine

A Rayville-area couple who farm about 2,300 acres of soybeans and corn, Dustin and Ashley Morris, were recognized as one of the top four young farming families in the nation at the American Farm Bureau Federation convention in Orlando, Florida.
Dustin is a fourth-generation farmer and Ashley’s father is 5th District U.S. Rep. Ralph Abraham, R-Alto, who sits on the House Agriculture Committee.
That speaks volumes. One of four couples from the entire country to be honored is homegrown. That Morris is a fourth-generation farmer points to the deep roots agriculture families in northeastern Louisiana have. They are not easily uprooted.
